	<title>Credit Card</title>
	<description>
Vicious is a good way to describe a person hooked helplessly on his or her credit card. You know you have one of these friends, who cannot resist whipping out the plastic when it's time to buy just about anything. Shameless. It's hard to see where the motives lie -- is it pure lunacy, or is there something more... a desire to show off by spending money they don't have? A delusion that if they spend like a rich person they will ultimately become one? In reality, it may be a combination of all those things, but there is one fact that cannot be disputed ----

There is a such thing as credit card addiction and millions of Americans have it.

The credit card is a terrible thing to use
Sometimes you can't avoid it. But most of the time you can. There are really very few things in which one needs a credit card to complete the sale. Yet the convenience and the impression that you are not spending actual money is what makes people love them so. There is also the option to pay only a portion of your credit card bill each month, and the prospect of earning frequent flyer miles or a free night's stay in a hotel or any other nonsensical incentive like that. We have to give the credit card companies that much -- they sure have figured out how to lure the American consumer into debt.

What they make a little less clear is that these cards can involve up to 30 percent interest.
No wonder consumers average several thousand dollars in credit card debt per household.

Let's be clear on one thing here. The companies that issue you credit cards are out to make some loot. They recruit people to sign up for cards because they know the more spending that goes on, the more likely people are to build up some nice credit card debts and pay some fat interest rates. It's a great gig if you can get it. You should really consider a career as a credit card company exec. But until then, you are just a consumer on the business end of a shady setup. Do what you can to educate yourself using this and other sites and take a stand. You do not have to settle for this.
